As a long-time knitter, currently on her second log-cabin-for-child- going-to-uni-in-a-colder-country blanket, I love this fic! I want to join their group. Have you seen the John Watson scarf and jumper pattern?

I'm at work, and the patterns are on my home PC, so I'll send the links when I get home. I want to do the scarf. Both are cable knit, and the jumper is mad difficult!

I don't recall if I replied to the email, so as long as I'm here - thank you for the patterns! If the jumper is that difficult, though, it might take a few years for me to get to it...I'm still on hats, and about to tackle my very first cable pattern. 0.0

This is made of 100% wool/awesome. anonymous May 19 2011, 13:39:41 UTC
Fantastically large amounts of awesome.

(As a Brit, (and a nitpicker) I would have gone for 'wool' as the general term rather than 'yarn', but possibly those who are serious about the knitting, and can knit things other than scarves, might disagree.)

Anyways, this is brilliant.

I really want to go to the SherlockWomen knitting circle now...

Oh well.

Bits that should have made it into the fic but only exist in my head:

The lady at the knitstore was incredibly overinformative on the makeup of various yarns, and slightly fanatical about getting the types of yarn correct. Sally is now slightly afraid to use the term "wool", and also rather determined to be able to identify various types by eye (because if that old bat can do it, so can she!).

(...yea. "The old bat" is me, or future me at any rate. Something about calling all yarn "wool" just makes what little hair I have left stand on end, I can't do it even in a 'fic.)

Yea, so do I! *lol* Thank you for the comment!

I thought I had commented.

Clearly that was some sort of hallucination.

Oh well.

This is the third time I have read this story, and I just keep coming back to it. Molly, Sally, Anthea, Harry, Clara, Mrs Hudson...bless 'em, they do need the downtime! And it's hilarious too. Love it.

ok forget the hand stitched embroidery today, where's my weaver I am finishing that blanket panel today. You have made me want ot call all my yarn girls over for a stitch, we usually sit around drinking arbor mist, knitting, crocheting and trying to mess up each others counts by getting them laughing. Mmmmm maybe tomorrow, I love weekends.

Weekends are in fact amazing.

I need to find a local stitch'n'bitch, or create one...in my copious free time. *laughs hysterically* I tend to do my knitting while watching Star Trek TNG lately.
