About once a year, I embark on a hardware upgrade on the PC.  This year, to coincide with the launch of Windows 7 and the need to start from a clean copy of XP on my boot drive in order to install my copy of Win7 Upgrade, I decided to pony up for a Solid State Drive as my boot drive.  I did quite a lot of research as this is a new and expensive

All that loveliness from hot-disconnecting a floppy? Who designed this shit?

I'm kind of assuming that's what did it, since the system crashed right after I pulled the plug, then wouldn't boot up. Seems a fairly clear cut cause/effect, though for the life of me I don't know how or why it may have caused that much damage.

Given that the interface for floppies was designed in the mid-80s, I'm not surprised that hot-plugging wasn't included in the protocol.
