I've been trying to resist this particular rant for a little while but it seems to be unavoidable now. There's no point beating around the bush with this matter and for some people it might be difficult to either hear or understand (Or both), but here it is:
The DaVinci Code is freakng fiction you whinging knobjockeys1!

You cannot tell me that you are honestly shocked that heavy religious types are unable to tell fiction from fact? Have you read the bible at all? Anyone who coalesces that book with literal truth has some rather obvious problems with determining what is real and what isn't.

I enjoyed The Da Vinci Code like I enjoy a Big Mac. While I read it in order to be able to relate to the mass social conciousness, I haven't read any of his other novels. From the sounds of it I need to read Digital Fortress so I too can have something to fervently complain about.

Well, not shocked, but it did surprise me a bit. People have been taking aim at the Catholic church for years and not gotten a response. Now that someone writes a book whose main intent wasn't even to annoy anyone and they're up in arms. The other thing that surprised me was the response from the art community, this sort of thing should just go in one ear and out the other for them. Guess they're a little touchy.

Also in regards to Digital Fortress, maybe its just cos I'm a geek, but I tended to notice more that Brown was out of his depth in Digital Fortress. It also probably wasn't as a good a story, but have a read anyway. I think I might have to have a look at "Angels and Demons" just for comparison

I guess growing up in the midst of funamental christianity makes me used to this kind of thing. These people protest about everything, and the catholic church is the worst. I just think you've been missing their memos.

You're right about the art community though. This kind of this is something they should be laughing off over a few glasses of chardonnay. I'm not even sure what they could possibly be upset about.

And like you, I am now also cruous enough to read his other books. Does this mean we're becoming victims of their marketing?

Digital Fortress is worth a read.. it is a Big Mac style book - good to consume but lacking real substance - and pretty much the same story as Da Vinci with Computing and spies instead of Jesus and Mary and the Vatican ( ... )

I've been pondering the use of 'knobjockey' since you posed the question, and I figure since discjockey has become lexcially acceptable it stands to reason that this would apply to toher subvarients of the jockey classification. Of course it is still acceptable to hyphenate the two words or leave them sepearate.
