Last time my rant was about Family Fued and its 'public survey' results. Tonight is along a similar line but from The Richlist. Now I'm not sure ( Read more... )

The source was Reader's Digest - the list is buried in the middle of http://www.readersdigest.com.au/content/27320/.

Like you, I fail to comprehend the inclusion of telemarketers as a "trusted" profession - alongside car salesmen (or should that be salespeople to be politically correct?).

Well played LT.

There's some more shocking people on that list. Hairdressers? Is there something about this profession that I've missed, because I barely trust them wtih my hair. Chiropractors? Lawyers? Builders? And, oh please, how does CEO even MAKE this list?

Of course I'm just upset that engineers don't even rank.

When I was a kid I had a theory that hairdressers were secrectly compiling a database of general knowledge about everyone. I mean, what do you do when you go to get your hair cut? You sit there and tell them everything that's happened since your last haircut. Then they simply go to the computer, pull up your profile and add the info in. I figured that from there it was probably sold to the Russians.

I had this same discussion with Kel last night... i guess she'd know, and she says that the crazy stuff people spill to you while you're holding a pair of scissors near their head is quite amazing. As in, the kinds of things that you don't really tell anybody except partners or best friends... So i guess that makes then quite trusted.

But car salesmen? And since when was a CEO a profession?

We were discussing it when the list came up - and we concluded that for the most part - it wasn't necessarily trustworthy people- you just HAD to trust them. A telemarketer calls- and u actually - for some god for saken reason- want to purchase what they're offering ...they have ur name and phone number- u have to give them your credit card details and address ... you HAVE to trust them to do the right thing with this information ( ... )
