Currently reading the new Neal Stephenson (Seveneves) in which Kourou (and the launching of hardware) is important to the plot.

(Until I saw it in the book, I wasn't aware of Kourou's existence, but now I keep seeing references to it.)

Any idea what these launches cost? I've vague recollections that it used to costs about $10000 per kilogram to Low Earth Orbit. Is it cheaper now?
