Michael Pollan was on NPR yesterday talking about the ubiquitousness of corn. Corn can be found in almost every processed food because a large portion of our corn crops are turned into corn syrup. Sweet is not usually found in nature, maybe in some root vegetables and fruit, so our bodies really respond to sweet. My guess would be that ( Read more... )

I read this thing on MSN about whole foods and the organic movement. According to this article, organic foods don't come from small farms but actually from large corporations. I think it's something about how small farms don't exist anymore or its too expensive for small farms to grow organic? Something along the lines of how Whole Foods is really deceiving people when they market themselves as small-farmer oriented.

But hmm...never thought about corn that way before.

hey, my comment didn't post. yeah, i was slightly suspicious of the gushing of whole foods. still, better than the albertons by my house. now, that place is an insult to my food palate.
