i hate chinese food. it's due to all the times my mom made us go to chinese buffets or americanized chinese restaurants in general. everything is covered in the same glutinous sauce and just plain disgusting.

today for lunch, a couple coworkers and i went to the Chin Chin on peachtree. i ordered the steamed tofu & vegetables with brown rice.Read more... )

aww girl you crazy!

chinese cuisine( real chinese food) is so so so SO good. and there is never any gross gelatinous mystery goo. i think maybe i forget that we're spoiled here with authentic chinese fine dining(and more casual) restaurants. it's sad because so many people in north america have only really had panda express nasty americanized style chinese food :(

i agree, real chinese cuisine is good but it's difficult to find here. i had the most awesome meal in an upscale chinese restaurant in london and dimsum in the philippines, SF and NYC. i just really hate the common americanized chinese food, especially since it was my mom's go-to food to eat out when i was growing up. cause you know, asians have to eat rice with every meal. ;)

small world! i love that they have brown rice, i'm such a sucker for it. i also love Com, too. the vegetarian spring rolls and grape leave tofu vermicelli bowl are my faves! have you been to Lee's Bakery, too? my sister loves their croissants. Las Tortas (near Penang) has great mexican sandwiches, too. so much ethnic food in that area.

hahahhahahaha your icon is just as scary as mine! i did a double take!

what you ordered sounded really good but the last time i went to chin chin i don't recall seeing anything vegetarian on the menu at all, other than vegetable fried rice which i don't recall being particularly good. my friend always wants me to go with her though so i think i'll give it another try, maybe they added the tofu to the menu since then (it's been a couple of years).

they have a new vegetarian menu with fake meat. it kinda scares me. what i ordered was in the "spa menu" section. definitely worth another try!
