Tattoos

I've always wanted them, but so rarely keep the same loves/interests that I am reluctant to get them. One of my favorite things has always been the Serenity prayer. But I don't want the whole thing typed out. Just the symbols. I started looking for the symbols of Serenity, Courage and Wisdom.

First I looked at languages that used symbols for words and that's just not ME enough.

Then I looked at animals. Dove, lion, snake. Hey that's pretty neat. But I don't care one way or another for doves. lions and snakes connect to my other interests. And then it hit me. Serenity. The 10th character in Firefly is named Serenity. Perfect.

Ultimately what I want is a doodle on the inside of my wrist of the outline of Serenity, Simba and the snake (specifically the s shaped one from the Slytherin badge). The specific Simba I picked will be shaded Gryffindor colors and the Snake will be Slytherin colors, Serenity will be shaded in purple because it represents me more than any other color. The three symbols also tie into the three worlds that have made the most impact in my life. Serenity has ties to Joss Whedon. His work has made me consider my place in the world and my ideals and a great deal of who I am as a person. Simba represents Disney which has also been a huge influence of my life. And finally the snake and the house colors tie into Harry Potter. A world which I fought vehemently not to be dragged into. A world which I mocked others for loving. A world that once it got its hooks in me held on for dear life and would not let go until it once again shook and changed me. Even as my interests change, the influence of Joss, Disney and Potter have been so strong that I can no longer imagine a future where they won't be as influential as they are right now.

I need to translate this into an outline with minimal shading.

Simba needs to basically become just the line with the slightest bit of garnet and gold shading.

And my little Slytherin shaped snake friend will only be an outline with grey and green shading.

The finished tattoo will be on the inside of my wrist. I'm imagining straight line with them in a row just bam, bam, bam. But I'm open to artistic interpretation. It can't be any wider than 2.75 inches because my wrist runs out of room after that.

Grant me
Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can, and
Wisdom to know the difference.
