Disasters in Third World Countries Irritates me

Because the media tries to convince me I should be charitable for a week or two, probably because it's being leaned on by the gov't who is trying to distract me from the greater problem like, oh the continuing conflicts in the middle east, or the fearless leader's low approval ratings.

And I don't even read/watch news that often.

The media is "trying to convince [you] to be charitable" because Haiti was, before this horrific disaster, one of the most deeply impoverished nations in the world.

And besides, you shouldn't need to be convinced of the rightness and necessity of charity.
