[ooc: Some Fruits Basket spoilers. Public again because Kyou still doesn't know how to use filters.]
Kyou had been drawing on the ground of his yard when the commotion began. Shuffling feet could be heard as they trod past the gate and towards the main estate, quiet mumbles slowly becoming loud chatter. He hadn't minded it at first and continued drawing quietly on the dirt.
It took a few more minutes before he finally looked away from his masterpiece, a drawing that probably meant nothing to anyone but himself. He knew that he wasn't the best artist nevertheless he looked proud of what he accomplished. He put his palms on his hips, a huge grin growing on his face.
"Kyou-kun!" His admiration of his work was short-lived though as his name was called out.
Before he could even turn, someone had grabbed his hand and dragged him against his will. "Come with me!" It was Kagura. She continued tugging on him towards the gate.
Kyou resisted, pulling back with all the strength he could muster. "But mom told me to stay home," he had said.
"But this is important, Kyou-kun! Come with me already."
It was a futile effort and Kyou eventually followed her, his shoes scuffling begrudgingly against the pavement. She had led him to a noisy crowd of people. Seeking some kind of explanation, he turned to face her. All she said what that he should go forward, to the front of the crowd. He did as he was told, pushing strangers aside to be able to reach his destination. The muttering only grew louder as people spotted the boy with bright orange hair.
Kyou soon found his father on his knees. His tie hung loose around his neck, his clothes a mess, his hair dishevelled. There were tears in his eyes. Tears of grief. He had said a few words, incoherent to most but loud enough for Kyou to pick up. It wasn't her time. How is she dead now?
"Who is?" It was a stupid question. If he had the chance, Kyou would've taken it back.
His father slowly turned to face him. The look on his face was indescribable - an indistinguishable mix of grief, remorse and anger. Before anyone knew what was happening his father was at his feet, walking towards him. Kyou found himself on the ground after a rough push.
"It's all your fault! If it wasn't for you she'd still be alive!"
The boy looked up at his father with questioning eyes, confused at what he had done wrong.
The man raised his hand, ready to strike the boy once more. He was restrained by his relatives while others simply watched on with mixed reactions. Kyou watched as his father struggled.
"She loved you so much! So much that she couldn't take it and killed herself! She killed herself because of you! You're not my son! My son would never kill his mother! He would never kill my wife!"
The boy didn't know how to react to that. His mother was dead? Because of... him?
A few minutes ago, this didn't seem possible. It seemed that everything was okay. He had no idea that his whole world would come crumbling down as fast as it had. He continued to stare at his father with unblinking eyes.
Tears began forming at the boy's eyes, rolling down his cheeks. Why it had started was beyond him. He felt numb. Confused. Lost.
And long forgotten was the family drawn by a child on the ground just minutes ago. Although it didn't look like much to others, it had meant the whole world to Kyou.

Kyou grumbles in pain as he realizes the he is no longer on the bed but on the floor. He glares at Musashi, who is currently wrapped up in all the sheets, taking up most of the space. He turns to realize that his Dreamberry is on and stares at it for a moment. A tear lands on the screen and he wipes it off with his thumb before cutting the feed.
