wtf is citation analysis? Is this like, something to tell you what a decent primary source for something is? Or like, so you don't use some exploited over-tapped source in your research? Googling now...
Well, citation analysis is when you look at who is citing what articles and other resources. When you look at more and more citations in a field of study, patterns begin to emerge, and you can discover who is citing your own work, who are the more prominent authors in the field, and what are the works that everyone is going to as authoritative. The citation analysis is pretty new, but there are some tools and databases, such as Web of Science and a Google Scholar gadget that automates the process.
