Old Friends

I swear, sometimes I wish I was more interested in exacting vengeance for adults. At least they know how to speak. That last spell would have been much less messy if the little girl hadn't had such an awful lisp. I mean, honestly, is it my fault that it sounded like "death" instead of "deaf"? Oh well, cleaning up the mess isn't part of the job. I ( Read more... )

"Hallie? What are you doing here?" I glanced around at the others and noticed Dawn scowling. "I mean, it's great to see you." I took Hallie by the elbow. "Come on," I told her.

"I'll be right back," I said to the rest. I led Hallie into the back room.

"Okay, so, hey. Great to see you," I said again. "But, if you don't mind my asking, what are you doing here?" I peered back out into the main shop where Dawn was standing. "This isn't the most opportune time. Although, I guess, it's as opportune as any, before I get involved in yet another Scooby misadventure."

"Oh, honestly, Anyanka, was that really necessary?" I rub my elbow. She didn't need to grab so hard.

"Who is it, exactly that you are trying to hide me from?" I will never understand why she values the input of any of these humans. I was hoping that with Xander out of the picture she would come to her senses and go back to her old self.

"Listen, I'm just worried about you, alright? You came back to the fold, and I couldn't be happier, but honestly, sweetheart, now that you're back, how about, oh I don't know, doing some vengeance? I know you're a little caught up in your own...non-marital troubles right now, but until you figure out what to do about that, what's stopping you from helping out a wronged woman or two?"

In the name of D'Hofrin, I hope she listens to me. He doesn't like it when his demons slack off.

I waved my hand impatiently.

"Like I care what those bloody humans think! But you do realize that Dawn isn't exactly thrilled to see you. I mean, she's a little skittish. Jumpy, what with her sister being out and her life being turned upside down and all. But it is so not that I care." I nodded my head.

"As for figuring out what to do about Xander...oh, please, Hallie. That is so over. He actually thought he could kiss me the other day! I mean, Xander Harris, thinking he still had a chance!" I scoffed, hoping that my hurt wasn't too obvious ( ... )

Oh, dear. He's really messed her up bad. She may not even realize how bad. Despite what she says, I can tell that she does care about the humans. Something has to be done.

"Anyanka, there's no need to lie to me. It's only natural that you would still care about these humans. After all, you've only been back in the game a short while. The important thing is that you realize that it's a problem and try to put it behind you and get on with your work."

"Look, I know my vengeance hasn't exactly been up to par. Okay, it's completely sucked. But...I guess...I'm just rusty. I mean, when you hang out with this group long enough, you get some sort of complex or something! And it's so much easier to just lose yourself in the capitalistic ways of human society, rather than worry about supporting the white hats."Oh no. It's not just Xander, it's ( ... )
