Clarissa. 22. King's College London MA Student (for another three weeks, woo).
Visiting Toronto, Canada, where I spent my 2nd Year of Undergraduate on Study Abroad at York University. Visiting and staying with friendlies!
Apologies for lateness of this ADIML, for I only just received my memory card back in the post after having left it at my mum's house in the Isle of Man. Failtastic!
56 images total.
June 19th, my third ADIML.
Here was my first in Barcelona in December, and my
second on May 1st in London and the Isle of Man.
The sight immediately upon waking... oh ceiling, why isn't the alarm clock going off? How strange to wake up naturally.
Does anyone else find it creepy yet adorable when they wake up to find themselves being watched? And Rania is such an agreeable sight to see first thing in the morning!
Belated Birthday cards from last February that never got sent, yay! Second Birthday Time.
Time check. Early much? I'm on holiday, ok. HOLIDAY. Or something.
It was a late and rough night. Don't judge :(
Rania's Bathroom Public Safety Notice?
Showah Showah Showah.
Such a random hairdrying light flare = inability to take photos whilst operating not-particularly-heavy machinery.
MUCH better, and yet still sans makeup and in desperate need of fixing that face problem.
Checking the Effy-B.
Erm, what? How is time passing? Time to go meet
therealjuliet for lunch in Kensington Market!
Rania has somehow moved from bed to the sofa as I washed the hair.
Why am I taking a photo of the TTC map? Rania lives by Kensington Market, so all I need do is walk three minutes out of the front door. SUCH a long way.
Kensington! Home of hippies, vintage stores, Big Fat Burrito, and crazy people.
At lunch with
therealjuliet and counting out TTC tokens. I would have taken a photo of the AMAZING huevos con queso, all the yummy mexican foods, and
therealjuliet's beautiful face, but she brought a friend along and I felt weirdly awkward taking photos of absolutely everything. And I was crazy-hungry.
Vintagey shopping time. For the sake of being able to pay Rent upon my eventual return to England, i'm restraining myself.
PIE IN THE SKY.
So. much. Pie.
Oh, look at the time, must go back and deliver pie to all the lovely peoples.
Our unnaturally talented friend Nayha does Fine Art up at York University, so we spent the previous night at the last night of her Gallery showing up at York and helped her to carry all her paintings home. These two came downtown on the Subway with us, one for Rania's apartment, and one for the opening of her new Henna shop 'SkinScapes' in Kensington Market.
If you're in Toronto and want AMAZING Henna/Makeup/Body Art doing, let me know and I can give you directions and information. Scroll down for Henna examples in later photos.
Delivering Sour Cherry Pie to my habibti Yafa.
PIIEEEEEEEE. ♥♥♥
Time to jam and make up a song about Pie whilst we wait for people to arrive for the SkinScapes photoshoot!
Somehow staying out of the way of people and their photoshoot madness by talking to Joe, who's in brilliant trendy and fantastical Toronto band 'Krupke', and who thinks i'm a crazy person when I explain i'm doing ADIML but is a good sport and poses looking a bit intense regardless before playing me more of Krupke's new songs. ♥
Carmen takes artistic shots of Rania's henna for the new shop.
GORGEOUS. And the Henna's pretty good too. Ahem.♥
Enough wandering around aimlessly. Time to drink some soup and watch the telly.
Still with the photoshoot. Getting listless much?
Perusing the internet and replying to the Sanctuary RPG i'm in.
I play Montague John Druitt, who is more sexier, taller, eviller, and more masculine than me. And far more Heyerdahl-tastic. ♥
This was the Official start of my research for my Masters Dissertation. Which, as of the time of posting this on ADIML, is due in two and a half weeks.
Oh god.
Nayha's back! I shall bother her and take creepy photos whilst she's on the phone.
And
misore has arrived, so I shall fill her in on all the day's photoshoot nakedness...
... whilst Yafa attacks her with love.
Strummy strummy.
Post-Photoshoot Champers and singing along to Flight of the Conchords.
Huzzah! HENNA POUR MOI.
Henna'd just in time too, because i'm in desperate need of Big Fat Burrito in Kensington Market and it closes in 20 minutes. I passed a cutesy Jazz Band on the way there and threw them a Loonie.
In Big Fat Burrito FINALLY. I'm Number 87.
The man behind the counter goes "yo, Nice Tattoo, sweetheart."
I felt too trendy to correct him and tell him it was just Henna. Sorry, Big Fat Burrito Man.
Yam, Yam, YAMMERS.
The greatest Burrito on the face of the Earth. Medium-spicy Yam Burrito with EVERYTHING.
Awww, home and all filled with Burrito. So Rania and I take random photos of ourselves.
And again. Because nobody is entertaining us even though its my LAST NIGHT IN DOWNTOWN TORONTO.
misore had to go, and people are on the internet instead. Failworthy :(
More boredom photos of our Henna.
Rania, who has spent the entire day Henna'ing people, passes out for an hour, so Nayha and I go for a Midnight stroll down to the Little Italy Festival.
And find ourselves in the Big Chill to get icecream and flirt with Icecream Boys... which is somehow open until 2am in the Summer? Who knew!
CREEPY LURK!
Outside the Big Chill there was all this ridiuclous Tiny Furniture for Tiny People/Children/Oompa Loompas.
Back at Rania's, and she's awake, and has lit up the Shisha!! Puffa Puffa on the Watermelon, and a bottle of Cider is pretty much the order of the day, I think!
What a delightfully untidy table...
Possibly time for sleep. Meh. I'm so far from wanting bed, but everyone else seems to have retired for the night so I feel like a bit of a loser staying up and partying solo.
The world outside on College & Spadina is silent in sleep. Even the creepy drunks outside have laid down their Mouthwash Bottles and curled up in their Globe & Mail Newspaper Coccoons for the night.
Sleepytime♥
