Next installment to "Death Is Not The End"

Unlike York, Delta could not enjoy physical pleasure.  To some degree he felt what York felt, fed second hand from his senses. It was filtered, analyzed, observed, but not truly experienced.  York's thoughts, on the other hand, his feelings and desires - Delta was inexorably entwined in those.  He was fascinated with them, moreso because he comprehended so few of them.

Delta's greatest pleasures were derived from knowing York was happy.  Beyond merely his own survival, his only true desire was to ensure York's well-being and continued functionality.  It was only logical, after all.  York had been the embodiment, quite literally, of almost his entire existence.  The implantation had taken place not long after his fragmentation, and he had little memory of events prior to it.  He believed he had been kept in a storage facility for a short while, but being implanted was his first true experience.

They shared one another's minds, knew one another to the deepest degree possible.  Delta often did not understand why York felt certain things, but he at least understood that York did feel them.  The bitterness he harbored was deep, rarely surfacing in his thoughts, but Delta knew it was there.

As much as he distrusted the one standing before them now, as much as he had every reason to believe that this was a bad idea, he could do nothing other than feel the desire for revenge as well: to help destroy the one who had scarred his Agent.  He did not need to look at the scar to see it in his mind, to remember the moment it had been inflicted and the agony York had felt.  Delta could not experience physical pain, but his greatest sorrow was knowing he had been unable to prevent York's.

Tactical Matrix is incalculable.  Outcome is uncertain.  Chance of success is unknown.  But, a little payback would be nice.

York had long ago gotten used to the somewhat long-winded responses Delta gave.  He was much more to the point.  "We're in."

york, out of mind, slash, delta, red vs. blue
