Learning things is the shit of all - even though I know a lot about math right now, I still feel as though I know nothing. This idea leads me to posit an argument, which everyone may feel free to state their opinions about ( Read more... )

"I know nothing except the fact of my ignorance" Socrates

I always believe that if you assume you don't know, you are more able to learn. Plus, your brain can never become full.

I think that people should strive to better themselves throughout their whole life. In this way one could define the "standard of education" as one's pursuit of intellectual stimulation and growth throughout his/her life. More precisely as the apparatus that brings about knowledge and ultimately betterment of the self and, ideally, humankind.

ok, so these ppl you talk about....they will experience things in their life that they will *hopefully* learn from, so that would be expanding ones knowledge...no?

Pretty presumptious to say they arent ever going to learn anything new.

You're correct to say that would be presumptuous, but I wasn't trying to imply that. Clearly someone can "learn" from their experiences. In reality all animals learn from their experiences and are able to adapt, but that's not what i'm talking about. What separates us from animals is the ability to learn about concepts and abstractions and our capacity and ability to understand others' thought processes and reasonings.
