What does "Ripley's Believe It or Not" have to do with Texas? What's "raizus"??

Ok, this referred to my first extended trip to Texas.
The R-thing was the 'culture' I had too see.
The 'raizus' were the Nascarr-thingies that were going on, and every redneck in the hotel asked me if I had come over there alllll the way from Belgium to see that. I eventually figured out what they were talking about.
