Hotel Ruanda

Kigali is a place I have nightmares about.
So I delayed watching the movie.

People will kill eachother over differences which are basically imaginary.
If they did not exist, they'll invent one.

There is no end to human cruelty.
I should know.
I was there until recalled.

*shrugs* 9 out of 10 times, I can tell a Hutu apart from a Tutsi.

I don't believe 'tolerance' and 'pacifism' are virtues.
We should have wiped out the Interahamwe ( those who stand/fight together ) when we still could.
Once a group calls for segregation, the murder is already in their minds.
The actual carrying out is just a formality.

Minor notes:
Most of the massacres were carried out by the 14-17 demographic.

Today there is considerable debate about the racial validity of the term Tutsi as distinct from Hutu. Some researchers believe there is next to no genetic difference between the two groups, and that what difference does exist can be explained by social patterns within the Great Lakes region. Most differences between the groups are economic and cultural, the Tutsi traditionally given to herding, and the Hutu given to agriculture. Intermarriage is quite common. Nonetheless, most Rwandans today identify themselves as either Tutsi or Hutu.
