As it is, I think that the only thing that might be broken is the hard drive. What's bad is that generally this means that everything you had on the hard drive is gone. The good news is that hard drives are cheaper than some of the other parts of the computer (like the motherboard). The fact that you can start it and that it's looking for the hard drives means that the motherboard still works. Looking on newegg.com, you can get a decent hard drive for around $50 and just try to replace it yourself if you want. Newegg doesn't ship to Canada, but you can probably find a decent and somewhat cheap hard drive if you look around. They're not hard to replace, either. :-p

It actually turns out that we have a hard drive here from my sister's old computer, and Dad's going to try and transfer it over at some point. It's kind of cool, actually, because its 60 gigs larger than the one I killed. :-P
