Okay, so. Here I am, but I don't know how much I'm going to be online for the next, like, ever. There was a (very brief) power outage last night around midnight, and when the power came back on, I think there must have been a power surge that fried the insides of my poor computer. I can turn it on, but it doesn't go beyond the "Scanning for IDE ( Read more... )

I'm waiting to watch CSI with my sister, because I know she'll spaz.

And hee, I thought of crawling Tessie when the power went out, how sad is that?

If I was there, I'd repair your computer for free. :-p

As it is, I think that the only thing that might be broken is the hard drive. What's bad is that generally this means that everything you had on the hard drive is gone. The good news is that hard drives are cheaper than some of the other parts of the computer (like the motherboard). The fact that you can start it and that it's looking for the hard drives means that the motherboard still works. Looking on newegg.com, you can get a decent hard drive for around $50 and just try to replace it yourself if you want. Newegg doesn't ship to Canada, but you can probably find a decent and somewhat cheap hard drive if you look around. They're not hard to replace, either. :-p

Heh, well, thanks for the thought anyway.

It actually turns out that we have a hard drive here from my sister's old computer, and Dad's going to try and transfer it over at some point. It's kind of cool, actually, because its 60 gigs larger than the one I killed. :-P

Yeah, parents generally do do the happy dance when the computer goes out, which is totally uncool.

:-( I hope you can get it fixed.

Well, I've been talking to you on IM, and if everything works out, I might actually be back by next week or the week after. And it's not like I'd see you a lot in that time anyway. :-P

I'm here, and the crack is here, for limited periods. :-P I'm currently on Dad's work laptop, which means no badfic, but I can handle tasking. And maybe a few crack trades. ;-)

If we're ever online at the same time. (I can't get onto Yahoo from this laptop, so I'm only on AIM - I can't figure out how to work Yahoo's web messenger)
