NaNoWriMo

Nov 01, 2007 10:01

I'm writing a novel this month. NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, and the challenge is to write 50,000 words from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30. I found the site yesterday and decided to sign on. I figure if nothing else, I'll have a string of SL character backgrounds or something. I'm not feeling totally inspired yet, but at some point ( Read more... )

I wrote a short novel (novella?) as a senior year high school special study. It was tough getting aproval to do so. Getting started was tough, but once I starting writing the second paragraph I couldnt stop. 100 pages later I was still hammering it out. I turned out a chapter a week to my teacher/editor.

It was one of the best experiences in my life. Very fullfilling, even if it will likely never be published.

And it was based on the DnD campaign I was in for over 5 years. Real people make for great inspiration in fiction!

Please leave the top 10% of your vocabulary out so the rest of us can have a chance at reading it. :)

I had to write a novel my senor year of college. It ended up being around 66k words. This is a nearly impossible goal, even without leaving time for editing. I wish you all the luck and will give you all the props if you can finish. I wish i had the time to take on such an endevour, but my last semester of grad school is whooping me.

The trick is that there's no editing... that's left for NaNoEdMo (National Novel Editing Month) in December. :) From the way I've read the about page, etc., it's more about just getting the word count just to say that you've done it than to actually have something to publish come December 1. That, and to connect with other would-be writers. There are kick-off parties around the world. Allen County Public Library has set aside a computer lab for Wrimos to get together because one of the library directors is doing it. It's been running for the last 6 years, and keeps spreading further and further each time; still, I'm surprised this is the first I've heard of it.

don't forget the zombies.. zombies are a sure seller for any book, especially for un-edited ones (or so i have generally seen.)

best example of the worst edited book of all time, aftermath of the dead. look it up on amazon and read the reviews. of course its something like 300 pages and not really a novel...

if you read it, it will make you feel better about anything you have ever written before!
