Call me a square if you will, I just don't like to bother with it. I used to say that I had a certain appreciation for it, but I really think that may have been a ( Read more... )

lindsay, i must teach one, like yourself, how to watch tv.
i'm superbly appreciative of your post because it makes me feel as if watching television is a skill, man!

some helpful hints to watch tv:

1. give all shows a chance!
ex: last year, i thought i would hate desperate housewives, but midway through last year's season, i watched just one episode and now i've totally become a sucker for it and have jumped on that bandwagon!

2. don't think. just watch.
tv's purpose is not sopposed to be good or productive. its sopposed to allow you to get caught up and lost in a totally unreal world and rely on fictional people with pety problems to act like they're talking to you for a 30 minute period. and they will never yell at you directly. television characters always make me for more sane in my head, even though i'm probably crazy because of them! those bitchez!

and lastly, always remember andy kaufmans statement: "television is the cheapest form of entertainment."

and you are most definitely and certainly welcome.

Hmmm, profound advice. I shall ponder and try to apply to my own tv-watching habits. In principle, I still hate television. But for those times when I mysteriously find myself watching it - this advice could very well be useful.
