Thanks for really spelling out the Family Guy thing. I saw that comment from someone a while back and just didn't bother to dwell on it for much the same reasons you describe, but ultimately you're right about how the creator/director treats women and offensive material.
A-freaken-men sister. Just looking at commercials and most of our media. And if you point out these subtleties, then people accuse you of being a feminazi bull-dyke man-hater. Hell, look at this insane gender dichotomy we have. I could discuss all this for ages- I had a class called gender and Identity last semester, and could recommend some great reading.
I know what you mean about Seth MacFarlane. That ep of "American Dad" with the daughter becoming a stripper was cringe-inducing. I like "Family Guy" because of its surrealism, although I don't like the fat/ugly jokes about Meg or the "dumb fat guy with attractive wife" thing.
