[Dawn feels terrible right now.  She all but abandoned the KND treehouse when things started to look really grim, hightailing it back home before the hazmats started in full-force with the flamethrowers.  She's been huddling in her room terrified out of her mind with Buneary and Pachirisu ever since, and has finally started to go a little stir-

"I was there for a couple of days..."

[And then her voice turns sad and guilty.]

"But I got scared and ran back home when more of those guys in the suits showed up."

I'm here, Dawn. I just have to think... are you going to be okay where you are?

[he really has no idea why she'd leave the treehouse... it's been safe, the ones who died are the ones who went home. Can she hear how strained his voice is?]

[And now her voice starts to wobble some.]

"I'm sorry for deserting you and the others... I got scared."

We'd be stronger if we all stuck together, but ... everyone gets scared. I'm scared too.

[the faint sound of his fingers drumming anxiously against something backs this up.]

This was all easier back home. We had a system. We had better weapons. We had a global command center that we could turn to for backup and advice... I'm not made for leading this many people.
