I started this community because of the trials of raising children in Utah when you are not a part of the mormon church.  When I was in 5th grade, my family moved to N. Ut to a small town with about 500 people.  I was constantly harassed for not being a member of the church.  The kids would make me cry, not invite me to parties that every kid in ( Read more... )

i'm sorry for the struggles you've had. no one should ever have to feel like that. sounds like you have a wonderful family started and i wish you the best with your hopes of getting to oregon. it's beautiful here :)

I know it is soooo beautiful there, but have you ever been snowboarding on a powder day in utah? There is nothing like it! We've heard mt. hood is kindof icey compared.

i'm not a skiier or a snowboarder (i know! it's like a sin! i grew up in idaho too!) but yes, i hear it is icier here. there is a lot of wind that comes down the gorge, perhaps that mixed with the occasional rain shower could be the cause. snow conditions aside, the area is magnificent. have you been to portland? i've only lived here a year and a half but i've fallen in love with it. the city has so much character and diversity. i'd recommend it to anyone.

I spent two days in portland and did fall in love with it as well. However, our main hobby is snowboarding and we love the snow here. The benefits outway the negatives here, our family is also here and with the kids growing up, it is important for them to be around their families. I plan on visiting portland again soon, maybe next year for our anniversary, then I will be done breastfeeding and could leave the kids. :)

Hey there,

It must be unusual living in Utah, with all the Mormons...
My name's Alexia, and I am from Melbourne Australia. Living in Melbourne means that we have catholics and christians everywhere, and being a Mormon means that I am looked at differently by others. It is a quite small group of people that are actual Mormons here, so it's interesting...
I just wanted to let you know that there are some friendly Mormons here that won't disrespect you for your choice of religion, as I only had 1 friend who was a Mormon before I joined the church anyway...

Although I believe everything that the Mormons believe, I am also a big fan of standing up for what you believe in... which is what I have to do every day here...

Good luck to you...

P.S. We don't have any snow here...
