How much do freelance graphic designers charge?

My former boss called me out of the blue today. He needs me to make some minor changes to the product literature like switching the logo and changing some colors and addresses. Nothing too exciting or complicated. Everything can be done in PageMaker and Photoshop in two hours ( Read more... )

the amount you should charge depends on your own experience and the amount of work. i have a book called the graphic artist guild's pricing and ethical guidelines. i just go through that book and cut everything in half. or cut everything in half again to get what i should charge around here. i usually charge either $10/hour or a flat rate for larger projects.. but since this is only like 2 hours, i would do the flat rate.. if it is just changes i would think it'd be like $20-50.. use your best judgement. i dont freelance too much cause i don't really like it myself.. logo creation by itself is $100.

Thanks for the advice. When I worked for that company, I got $18/hr. It would be weird to charge him any less.

$125 for logo design alone - or $35-45/hour depending on the work. This is what I charged for serveral years, before accepting a full-time graphic design job.
