can you report back on how many people actually show up for this rally? i'm really curious. and hemp products are everywhere, even wal-mart, so... maybe i just don't understand the point of the rally- you want the individual to be able to capitalize on hemp production? or you want to educate the people so that the ban will be lifted and individuals will grow hemp for 'responsible' purposes that of course would never, ever include illegal smoking of marijuana? even if the hemp plants don't have the thc, people will use the lifted ban as an excuse to grow the good stuff.
i think this rally is a lost cause in general, but especially in utah- a meth rally would probably grant a greater turnout. and don't get your undies in a bunch- i'm not anti-weed :-p i'm from Boulder- the biggest, most intellectual(proving it doesn't make you stupid forever), most liberal pot-head city in colorado. this is just what i think.
The hemp is grown out of the country and imported from Canada and other places. You can buy all kinds of hemp products and they are legal to have, but not to grow the raw materials for. Why use corn for ethanol when there is hemp that produces much more biomass? Why cut forests for paper when there is hemp that requires less chemicals for processing? Why use oil to make plastic bags when plastic bags can be made out of hemp without going to war in the middle east? Why import hemp from Canada when we could grow it in the U.S. and bring the costs way down?
I discovered hemp milk and where I live it's 3-4 dollars per quart. Soy and Rice milk are around 1 a quart. I blame the fact that U.S. farmers can't grow hemp.
btw, walmart has serious ethical problems. Do a quick google search and stop supporting their criminal behaviour.
