I have spent 50 hours this week chasing the memory leak. I have just now found it.
The Monty VM leaks every object ever handed to java.util.Timer.

Food of the Illuminated Brethren
In the food department, I made my first successful use of lentils this weekend. ukelele didn't like it, but what does she know, eh? Anyway, spicy lentil pureé thing, check. Air conditioning, elevators, and ventilation all out of order at the office today. Visible convection rolls in the building atria.
Even the "redundant" A/C in the server room is out.
Yuck.
edit: Building services claims it's fixed and will be back to normal in an hour. I remain skeptical.

Jackleg
"Jackleg" is an odd word, with a meaning perched halfway between "moron" and "scab" as if to equate the two concepts. Myself, I've always considered it something of a compliment, though. Today's reading will be from the book of "Don't ever trust professionals."

Today is apparently National Teacher Day; the motto of this year's National Teacher Day is, "Thank a teacher for making public schools great!" No word on whom to thank for making the public schools suck, which they do from time to time on this planet, or on whether one is permitted to thank teachers in private or parochial schools.
