2012.05 Fineboys - Kamenashi Kazuya
I hope this makes at least some sense. I had problems with a few parts and they were also difficult to express in English.
2012.05 Fineboys - Kamenashi Kazuya
An able man [1] gives his everything at work, in his interests, and in fashion!
"Naturally the young men appearing in Fineboys and also the kids normally walking around on the streets are all really stylish/fashion-conscious. Of course they read such magazines and study it in their own special ways. Ah, I think I will also have to work hard at it."
While saying that Kamenashi flipped through this magazine before the photographing. At that time what caught his eye was the page with his kouhai [junior] Yamada Ryosuke from HeySayJUMP. While looking at Yamada’s page Kamenashi remembers his first appearance in this magazine.
"Already six years have passed since then. At that time I thought playing billiards, darts and surfing were the requirements of a cool guy, if only I had had time I would have delinquently gone and polished my skills at them. I especially fell for billiards. I also had my own cue (*laughs*)."
While saying that he grips the cue ball from billiards that we use as a props like he would a fork-ball in baseball. When seeing the white ball it looks like he imagines baseball. That is like him who is also active as a sports caster. Regarding the area of sports, we express it as 'having' something of a player who draws a great fortune/fate towards himself like Darvish Yu or Honda Keisuke [?], he is an "anniversary man" who was in the first issue of the 25 years anniversary magazine of Fineboys and then he was also on the front cover of the 26 years anniversary issue. He certainly is an "able man".
"It’s not that I aim for it! And yet it has been two consecutive years, I think it’s amazing. I want to continue to do it for all time, but how long will I be able to be on the front cover!? But even when I am a middle-aged man, I think my interest in Western-style clothes won’t change. Therefore, how long can I be active in this line of work? I somehow really want to do it."
Seeing the atmosphere of his unadorned relaxed/open attitude creates a refreshing mood. His attitude of tackling everything seriously and with all his power might be the reason he maintains such a very good impression. Let’s return to the selection of Western-style clothes, he possesses a confident 'self'.
"Because it's fashion, if one replaces one’s clothes every season, no matter how much money one has, it's not enough (*laughs*)! Therefore, I buy nice basic clothes, besides I think it's best to combine them with one or two fashionable clothes. For example for fashionable clothes now, everyone uses detail and then simply combines it, right? That alone looks stylish enough. When it looks like 'I am so really into it!' [overdoing it], that on the other hand is not stylish."
Moreover, for him it's not only selecting items, he also explained about the methods of distinguishing ‘ways of dressing well’.
"For example a professional stylist knows just by looking at a person which style will suit them. But an ordinary person not accustomed to that, so at first it’s impossible. Therefore, they try various styles. At first, it might be difficult to know what clothes suit oneself, but I think while one copies magazines, one will gradually discover a style that fits. This then is the 'way of dressing well'. The look of a shirt is changed by opening one button. The shape of the face, the length of the neck, and also the shoulders, every human is different. Therefore, to show oneself from the most stylish side I think it’s important to find the 'best/maximum balance'. Doing that the same items will appear as completely different, just try it!"
While he was looking into the mirror or looking at the monitor during the shooting, he opened and closed the buttons, he investigated the best 'opening' for himself.
He who is well known for "his plain [not work] clothes are of good taste" is also pretty picky with fashion. His recently bought a dark blue spring coat, is also displays his pickiness. The purchased item arrived exactly on the day of the shooting, he actually wore it and showed it to us.
"Oh, it's great, the size is also exactly right. I really wanted it, so I ordered it.
It has been a long time since I wanted to obtain an article of clothing that much. The feeling I had after putting it on and the length if it were as I had hoped. I will of course wear that coat as an everyday coat, but I think I will wear it at the live concert when singing my solo. I think it fits the world view of my song."
Fashion, plays, songs, dance, baseball... we think it's difficult to put the same effort into all of them, but it's amazing how he does them very easily. Furthermore, it look like recently his interest in the 'camera' has been added to them. During the shooting, he exchanged technical terms with the camera man and talked about photos, the professionals were also surprised about his wealth of knowledge.
"I got photographed, so I had an interest in photos. But just getting photographed, it is frustrating that I don’t know anything about the taking of photos itself (*laughs*). That was the motive/impetus for me to buy a camera. I make digital photos and also ones on photographic film. My photographic subjects are noting strictly decided on, I often photograph the scenery etc. from where I set out from."
It will be the season with nice weather soon. It looks like he plans to "carry my camera and set out/go out" as much as possible.
"Looking at the streets through the camera finder I noticed that the streets I normally walked had a different appearance to me. Like 'In this place flowers are blooming', or 'This billboard is cool'. When I walk and think that I want to find something that I want to photograph, wonders and casual spots catch my eye. Thanks to this I have new feelings, or rather, I think the camera taught me a new point of view. I think this is also useful in my work. It's not just something rough, I can even see more details. The thing I want to learn the most now, is photographing the fish which are swimming in a water tank. But that is difficult! Because it's fun that there are still more things to learn and study, I seem that I have really gotten into it right now (*laughs*)."
While he is spending every day very busy he is never forgetting his individuality, as a man, as a person, he became a good sample for a way of living. It’s not only about appearances such as fashion, it seems there are many things that we can learn from him.
