Work...Doesn't it go Hi Ho, Hi Ho?

Well, I spoke with the office manager today and it turns out that if the person that I'm covering maternity leave returns fulltime there will be no job offered me (although that could change). That's not really a surprise but I'm a bit disappointed. There's been all this talk of growing the practice and staying on and it's all smoke and mirrors ( Read more... )

That sucks. It's too bad they feel the need to treat you so poorly. You would think they would want to foster an atmosphere of loyalty. It's ridiculous that they won't even give you a chance but at least you're aware now that they were just stringing you along.

The stringing along was mainly about making sure that I didn't find a different job right away. I told them right away that I wasn't going to actively look until near the end of the mat leave. Yesterday, I told them that I will start looking at the beginning of June if they haven't come up with a job for me in the office (and not as an assistant cuz that's not what I want to be - 15 months is more than enough of that job for me). 3 months will give me time to find something decent...I hope.
