Well, let me tell you my point of view, as a parent and playtron ( ... )

Woot! Yes, they do rock! I'm not about to take credit for the outstanding place it's become, though. That credit belongs to everyone involved from the top down, honestly. I can only see good things for the Woodlands from here on in, but I don't know that that'll help you at the end of the day when it comes time to haul Smog home.

You've also hit the nail on the head as to what I like about the woodlands. The interactions we get to have down there are amazing. I get to talk to parents and grandparents as they take a breather, and I get to tell children about the woodlands, which is cool because they come to love the woodlands even more when it's actually got some story behind it.

Awww. Thanks for the kind words.

Bout the only thing I can say is this. In 30 years of living history involvement, in all types of eras, I can say for certain one is always going to have factions. Just primitive tribe dynamics at it's finest ( ... )

Ah, but the difference here (as correct as you are on all your statements) is that you are a vendor; open to seeing much of the entertainment business and meetings but with one big difference. You are in your own category (which is a good thing, I think) and not privy to the academies and the political and factional qualities that only cast members see and experience.

And I'm glad you don't. it's a purer experience for you that way.

From my veteran's outlook, Joe is right. And you are right, too. There are always factions and 'in groups' and politics wherever 3 or more people are together, especially theatrical or entertainment people. I've been in the 'in' group at faires and I've been most definitely in the 'out' group and the outskirts. But anymore on this subject I am not willing to say; this year everytime I am clear and candid, it seems to hit the fan.

*smiles* I was invited to the academies actually. I just couldnt always go, even though I stopped in when I could. Hopefully I will get the chance to stop in more next year. I found what I saw fascinating ( ... )

Heh. It's fun being the fly on the wall, ain't it?

You *are* right, I think. Especially about how refreshing faire is as far as drama and politics. Hell, I wouldn't trade it, even given everything I gripe about.

Your agenda, by the way, is one you're good at fulfilling. Your paintings are wonderful. One day I may even be able to afford a print or two... maybe after college. Yours is the kind of work I'd love to see hanging in my house, that's for sure.

I didn't care for the music that much either, it's more about the company...
I would love to talk about some your frustrations, but I think a more private dialogue is a better option.
You did well this year, I know you think there was little difference between years but it was apparent to a lot of people that Twitch is an excellent character that transcends the Woodlands as well as anchors it.

Now *that's* what I call diplomacy. The longer I see you acting as ED, the more I realize why they pay you the "big bucks". (Although in this context, I'm sure those bucks are more a figure of speech than anything.)

It's good to know you're willing to talk, and I know I'd probably benefit from it more than anyone.

I'm just glad I did a good job. Going into this season, I didn't know how I was even going to live up to the previous year. As long as you guys let me keep wearing the funny clothes (and I manage to go a season without destroying them) I'm happy.

You were fighting a lot of factors last year, the area was new, the leadership undefined and I don't think your chemistry with Timber-Jack Jack was positive.
I don't know if your performance was as inspiring because you had people cutting your legs out from underneath you, I had people telling me last year you weren't where you were supposed to be... Those people are gone, you have been watched unbeknownst to you and you now get credit for what you might have done all along.
Good job! My offer about chessboard was based on your presence in your area, I don't need to kiss butt, I need to recognize talent & effort, it's what EDs do...

Hmm. That's an interesting piece of trivia about last year I hadn't wanted to believe. Getting credit is nice, but really not what I was worried about in the first place. (Though if it gets me the opportunity to kick butt/get mine kicked on the chessboard, I'll accept it!)

"Watched unbeknownst to you"... *chuckle* You're not helping my paranoia any. Ah, well. There'll be time for therapy when I'm older.

And thank you for the kind words, especially after what I had to say. I was going to anyway, but now I realize to be fair, I kinda *have* to write a positive entry. There was so much going on that one train of thought doesn't really do it justice.

I decided what I had said before sounded worse than I intended. Now while I mean all of it, the part about the "group", I didnt mean to make it sould like a group is bad, just while the leaders try so hard, it seems some IN the group maybe dont listen to their leaders!?
It was a rough year, with all the changes, but I just wanted to make sure I let you know how much I do appreciate YOU!
Good idea, the "After Party Players" stage show...Heheheheheheh! Wow, wonder where that might end up! It would be a new experience every show!
PS: Your gonna love the secret plan!

"just while the leaders try so hard, it seems some IN the group maybe dont listen to their leaders!?"

You have got to be kidding me!
If we did not listen to them nothing would get done unless YOU plan on moving tables for Kings feaste, or KAYLEEE, or masked ball, or how about changing show times after kids day (thanks David) or starting practice WAY before academies even start.
How about picking up trash after cast party.
Give me a break, your statement shows how far removed you are from what really happens.

as usual, your end of faire speils tend to be the most interesting to me. we've talked about this, and i don't know that i've ever just out-right said it, but i agree with you. we can talk more about it this evening, if you'd like.

by the by, next year, mini-con will be top priority once faire is over. we simply missed too much, this year.

Yeah, I do tend to shoot my mouth off, don't I? Some might consider that ill-advised, but I'd prefer to speak plainly than dance around it all. Not that *you* didn't know that.

I like it when people shoot their mouth off because typically I hear all these complaints 2nd hand from people that are too afraid to have dialogue. It is nice to have a chance to respond in a non diplomatic way, the same way you approached it.
