The most direct way I know of obtaining fingerprints from a possibly-touched surface involves a tube of superglue and either some Silly Putty or Jell-o.

Heat the superglue until the fumes begin to rise and collect on the surface-in-question, and once you see the fingerprints becoming visible. Then you gently touch the gelatin to the print to deposit a mirror-image onto the surface of the Jell-o.

It works best when you have the prints of a suspect to compare & verify with, but I'll leave the legwork up to you. Good luck catching this person; I am having my own computer woes after having my PC pretty much crushed by careless movers. I am sure it will take FOREVER to get the moving company to admit liability and reimburse me.
