I'm about to change your pretty mind

May 31, 2005 16:15

Hello my lovelies, I've been ever so busy lately with graduating school and an exchange trip, but you can't keep me away for long.

1. Name: Erin, aka The Floyd

2. Age: 17

3. Queer, or wish you were?: Queer

4. Location: Wallace, NS (soon to be Halifax, NS)

5. What is your favorite book and why?: Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies. This was the first of a select few books that made me cry because it was over - heh. The story is amazing, fairly simple to read but rich in metaphor and history. It's kind of an allegory for the life of Christ, which was a pretty touching story even though I don't have Christian beliefs. It also touched on the themes of multiculturalism and acceptance of indivuduals who are different, which is a good message for anyone.

6. Life motto (phrase you live by): Anything is possible except skiing through revolving doors. Also, hold on to the little things that really move you, because they are what you will remember fifty years from now.

7. Why are you so gay? (if we hear any more stories about how you had two Barbies but no Ken, we will kill you, seriously.): I'm sooooo gay because I genuinely love women. I have a weird relationship with guys... I love guys, they make awesome friends, and they give some of the best hugs. But when it comes to trusting someone with my heart, a woman just knows how to handle it. Girls are beautiful to hold and touch, they smell good, they taste good, and they know how to make you happy.

8. Your hero/idol: My girlfriend. She's overcome so many things in her life, and she just keeps going. Right now she's in the process of opening her own tattoo/piercing shop, and it makes me so proud that she's accomplishing her dreams so early in life. She keeps me going and keeps me sane.

9. Thoughts on the following:
Socialism ("I don't follow politics" does not work. Stop being ignorant and come back when you're educated.): It's a good idea, but it probably wouldn't work here in Canada. I'm not all for capitalism, but chances are if we didn't have it, a lot of people would suffer. It's the private enterprisers that pay the most taxes in order for the government to fund those who have much less. If all these rich capitalists that socialists dislike just decided to pull out of business and go on welfare, bad things would happen to our country's economy. When you think about it, even though they've got big fat wallets, they also generate revenue for the poorer members of society. I guess no system is perfect.
Grammar: My greatest love affair. Misuse of the possessive apostrophe makes me weep. I can't stand poor grammar in the least.
Country music: I complain about it a lot, and a lot of it is kinda crappy, but there are some good songs out there. I just finished an exchange trip with a group from rural Saskatchewan, and they LOVED country music. Maybe being exposed to it so much made me like it a little. I like the feel-good party songs, and some of the love songs are really moving.
Rating communities: I do appreciate a little ego boost once in a while, I guess. All my female friends are really pretty and I sometimes feel like the ugly duckling when I'm out with them, but on the other hand I don't get too worked up about what people on the Internet think.
Intermarriage: I think marriage should be available to anyone, but I also think that way too many people get married without thinking about what it means. Marriage is just as sacred to me as it would be to any heterosexual person, if not more. I wouldn't get married unless I was 100% sure that I wanted this person for the rest of my life. If you're sure about that, then go for it whether your partner is black, white, male, female, transsexual, missing a limb, or from Saturn.
Religion: I used to have religious beliefs, and I was truly happy with them at the time. I'm not anymore, but I think that if something makes you feel good and isn't hurting anyone, it should be completely fine to practice. I don't agree, though, when those beliefs start infringing on the rights of others or hurting people.
Machismo: I hate it when guys do it and are serious about it. It really pisses me off that men think they have some kind of right of access to women. On the other hand, I hate it just as much when girls act like they can have and dominate any guy/girl they want. No one should have control over anyone in that respect. On the other hand, I seem to be a mutant with three hands.

10. What is "class," to you? Class, to me, is mostly about respect and patience. There's no bigger turn-off for me than seeing someone acting rude toward someone taking their order at a fast food place, or ringing in their stuff at a department store, just because they're impatient or unhappy with what's going on. Just because you're being served doesn't give your the right to command. Respect is the most important thing to me, and that includes being polite to people even if you don't like them.

11. Are you one who settles, or one who strives for more? Why? I'd like to think that I continually strive for more, even though sometimes I level out for a while and take a break. I want to accomplish so much in life and it's just hitting me now that I have to get my ass in gear if I want to get there while I'm still young.

12. Do you honestly think that you are attractive? Sometimes... I know I'm not ugly (hence the application) but I know I'm not the type of girl you would pass on the street and turn around for a second look. My girlfriend makes me feel beautiful, and that's mostly all that matters - I don't need to impress her or anyone else. I can clean up pretty good when I want to.

13. How would you gauge the importance of acquiring a second (or third) language? I wish I had've taken French class more seriously. It's very important, especially when Canada is a bilingual nation. I can speak quite a bit of French, but I'm not fluent and I wish that I was. It's pretty arrogant to assume that every important person that you will encounter will be able to speak English.

14. Do you perpetuate a gay stereotype? (Honestly, people!) Yeah, kinda. I have short, spiky hair and I wear a lot of camo. I also tend to act pretty dykey around my friends - I'm really one of the guys. I'm kind of feminine at times though.

15. Do you take what people on the Internet say seriously? Not particularly, although when I get a negative comment it kind of hurts.

16. And finally, why should we give a damn (this can be intepreted in any way you wish)? Because I take really crazy pictures, I smell good, and I can burp like a champion!

17. At least 3 pictures (at least one non-photoshopped that you can see your face in):

This is me

This is also me... WEARING A DRESS

Me and my boys

This was taken after I went to a lobster dinner. I took the antennae off the lobster and stuck them to my own head. The mayor of my town was there, he was quite impressed.

This is me being a zombie in an extremely low budget horror movie. We only had 24 hours to finish it so I had to edit it while still in my zombie makeup. Eww.

Me and my gay boyfriend.

Not sure what I'm doing here.
