I'm sorry I signed off yesterday...AOL freaked out & I gave up.
Depression is hard to get help for, I agree on that. I tried to get help for some problems I've had for a while, at the Centers (the local madhouse, heh), & they didn't do anything. This morning was another low point for me...but the point I'm trying to make is, I don't know exactly how much help is offered for depression or anything of the like. It doesn't seem like a lot.
It's said that people don't like to admit to it being a serious problem. I'm on a course atm, about relaxation and mindfulness (involves meditation) at what I consider the local loony bin. It's white, with a tall bit at the front with silvery metal pipes up it, just how I imagine loony bins.
I have a book atm, which Smee pointed me toward and bought for me (discounted, in the shop where she works.) It's by Spike Milligan and his ... psychiatrist? Psychologist? Anyway, it's called "Depression and How to Survive It". Spike Milligan was a man I think highly of.

I have, yes, after years of people saying I should. It seems it's trickier than one would expect to get clear, pointed help out of NHS psychotherapy.
