Summary: In which Jonghyun and Kibum are just two kids in love.

Jonghyun yawned and looked up from the book he had been reading, glancing at the clock. It was 11PM, almost time to go to bed. Suddenly, a white flash temporarily blinded him, and a few seconds later the sky shook with the angry rumbling of thunder. Jonghyun shivered. It would be a cold night tonight.
He carefully marked the page he had stopped at, then closed the book and placed it on his desk, stretching. When he had finished stretching, rain had already begun to strike the window noisily, and he sighed. It was difficult for him to fall asleep with that much noise going on right beside his bed.
As another flash of lightning blinded him with thunder following not long after, Jonghyun heard a terrified scream coming from somewhere in the house. Jonghyun’s heart thudded painfully in his chest, and he dashed out of his room, heading towards the source of the scream.
He opened the door to Kibum’s room, only to find that it was empty.
“Bummie?” he called gently, looking around the seemingly empty room. He noticed that the door to the cupboard was slightly ajar, and walked up to it, peeking inside.
He was met by the sight of a shivering Kibum who was sitting at the bottom of the cupboard with his knees drawn up to his chest, his hands tightly clutching a dinosaur soft toy, tears threatening to leak out of his closed eyelids.
“J- Jjongie-hyung?” Kibum looked up when he felt the door opening, eyes shining with tears that hadn’t dropped yet.
“Are you scared, Bummie?” Jonghyun asked gently, bending down and picking Kibum up.
“Y- Yeah,” Kibum replied, pressing closer against Jonghyun’s body. “I don’t like the loud sound that comes after the flash.”
“Want me to sleep with you for tonight?” Jonghyun asked, pressing a kiss against the young boy’s forehead.
Kibum nodded fervently, arms wrapping around Jonghyun’s neck as Jonghyun carried him over to the bed.
The two of them curled up on the bed together and Jonghyun reached over and brought Kibum’s blanket over the two of them, knowing how Kibum hated the cold.
“Goodnight, Bummie,” he whispered, kissing Kibum again, this time on the lips.
“Goodnight, Jjongie-hyung,” Kibum whispered back, shivering when Jonghyun’s lips touched his.
As lightning and thunder caused turmoil in the overcast sky, Jonghyun sang quietly under his breath, and Kibum’s breathing soon evened out. With the sleeping Kibum’s arms wrapped around his waist, Jonghyun soon slipped into dreamland as well.
