Someone has been telling people that IB is in breach of the Internet Privacy Act. As per your request that we not get in to mud-slinging issues with "he who shall not be named", I am of the belief that "he who shall not be named" is who is starting this particular rumor.
All weekend long I've fielding "Is this true" questions. Paranoia is a dangerous tool and people feed in to the paranoia, when there's -no such thing- as a Internet Privacy Act. No Such Thing.
People are going to believe what they want to believe and no amount of whatever you tell them are going to dissuade that belief.
Just ignore the stupid shit. Enjoy your rooms, and the site, and tell those people who are actually continuing to believe stupid things without researching for themselves to take a leap.
If it's not listed on a .gov site, it's likely not real. And if they -really- wanted to know they can contact their local polic non-emergency line and ask about it.

A good place to check about laws is http://loc.gov and/or http://uscode.house.gov
