Truthplot or Dare [Dated to June 10/11]

May 25, 2011 00:41

It's a fuckin' brilliant idea, it is.

It's not as if Chris has been planning it for long at all; it's just an idea he's come up with. Of course, the last time he went camping with his mates, Michelle's sister's car had ended up in the sea and Maxxie's stalker had shown up and had been shagging Anwar. Mostly, Chris had just been happy someone had ( Read more... )

Chris probably seems to come from nowhere when he plops down next to Claire, a half empty bottle of island-made alcohol in one hand. He's far from being fucked, but he's smoked a joint or two and had enough to drink that he's grinning from ear to ear before he's even started speaking.

"Alright, I think you've avoided it long enough," he says, "Truth or dare, Claire?"

By the time Chris makes his way around to her, Claire's given in to a pint of beer. Just enough that she feels warm all over, cheeks flushed as she lays on her stomach on the ground, then rolls over until she rests right by Chris' side, tilting her head and grinning mischievously. "Hey, just because it took you this long to ask doesn't mean that I've been avoiding it," she says lightly. "And I think I'll go with... dare."

"No, I've seen you over here, yeah? With your... with your fuckin' marshmallows," he laughs because there's no real reason he hasn't been round yet, other than Olive making him sing rubbish pop songs.

"Alright, dare. And you're sure about that?" Anyone else, he likely wouldn't give a chance to back out of it, but this is Claire he's talking to, here.

"Don't go easy on me," Claire complains immediately, brow furrowing as she smacks him lightly on the arm, expression every shade of offended. "I may be... dainty and blonde, but that does not mean that you get to write me off when it comes to Truth or Dare. Remember, I came from a football school and was co-captain of a squad of very, very ambitious cheerleaders. You might be surprised."

Crossing her arms, even as she lays on her back and stares up at Chris, Claire arches a brow, waiting for the dare.

"Dare. Final answer."

"Okay then, Captain Claire," Chris replies his grin turning into something a bit more mischievous. She's had a fair chance to back out now, so it's not as if she can really be angry at him, right?

"I dare you to kiss Olive."

"Wait, wait, wait," Eduardo cuts in quickly, with a willfully incredulous laugh, both hands raised in front of himself, palms out. The reaction is so sudden that he doesn't have time to consider it beforehand, but he also doesn't really care, too taken aback - and obviously so, if his wide eyes and temporary lack of words is any indication - by the mere suggestion to pay any attention to how he probably looks, namely ridiculous. A game is a game, and truth or dare is truth or dare; however, someone else being dared to kiss his girlfriend is a different story entirely. Maybe he's an exception to a rule, but he's never seen the appeal in the prospect of a hypothetical girlfriend kissing another girl (or anyone else at all) anyway, and even if he were, that wouldn't be the case when both parties are under eighteen.

The last thing he wants is to ruin anyone's fun, but really, it isn't like he could just say nothing and ignore it. "Is that - does she not get any say in that?" (What he means, of course, is do I, but he's aware of how that ( ... )

"It's just a game, mate," Chris replies. Jesus, it's like Eduardo's never played before.

"It's not like Claire's tryin' to steal your girlfriend, yeah? Don't tell me someone's stolen your girlfriend over a game of truth or dare before."

Claire can't help it, breaking out into giggles and losing her composure entirely. All in all, the dare could be a lot worse, and she knows it- friendly kisses between friends are able to remain just that, and for Claire and Olive in specific, Claire doubts there's even risk of tension. But what really takes the cake is Eduardo's reaction, so immediate and protective that Claire finds it impossibly endearing, even as she feels a slight twinge of envy as well.

"Okay, okay," Claire says, holding up both hands. "Since it is my dare and not Olive's, how about let's say that she gets veto rights if she really feels uneasy about it? And then we can just... go around and Chris can pick more people for the dare until someone actually wants to be kissed. Or something. But something tells me, Wardo, that thou doth protest too much."

Olive laughs, patting Eduardo's arm and leans over to kiss his cheek. "It's fine," she says. "It's just a dare, it's not like we're gonna make out or something." It's not like she's ever even thought of kissing Claire, but that's part and parcel of how the game is played. Maybe she'd be more bothered of she had thought of it, but Truth or Dare isn't exactly anywhere near the same scale as cheating. "If Claire's game, I can take it." She's never, after all, been the kind either to half-ass something or back down.

"No, no, that's what I meant," Chris interjects, because the point of the whole thing wasn't for the two of them to fuckin' kiss on the cheek or something. If the game were that easy, it'd be boring, and that's just bollocks.

"Did anyone else hear him say 'make out'? Because I distinctly heard 'kiss,'" I say, around a mouthful of marshmallow, feeling I should weigh in on this. Well, not should, but I'm going to, because it's fun, and also the idea unsettles me in a way I can't put my finger on.

It actually has nothing to do with the fact that I'm sitting here in my underwear, though. At least... I don't think it does. "If you didn't phrase your dare properly, that's not their fault."

"Thank you, Jessica," Eduardo says, letting out a sigh of relief. There's nothing ideal about any of this, neither the dare itself nor how utterly ridiculous he feels now, even though he knows there's no other way he could have responded and still been able to live with himself (he's supposed to just be okay with someone else volunteering his girlfriend to be kissed? Really?), but at least he has some sort of backup. He'll take a kiss on the cheek, or something lasting only a second, over full-on making out in a heartbeat ( ... )

"Weird isn't the word I would use for it, dude," Maxxie pipes up, a slight frown on his face.

He's gay and has little interest in the matter, but even he knows Wardo shouldn't be protesting so much to two hot chicks making out.

There's a flurry of emotions that suddenly takes over. Sadly, the only one that Claire's completely sure of is how amusing it is that Jessica can so easily swoop in and point out a loophole that could, potentially, solve everyone's problems (even if ruining Chris' fun in the progress). When it comes to Eduardo, for the first time, Claire feels worried. It's not that she thinks that Eduardo would ever do anything to hurt Olive if he can help it, but the guy's definitely got issues of some sort, that he would get so worked up over a kiss between friends who aren't at all interested in one another in a romantic or sexual sense. The most innocuous explanation Claire can think of is that he's a prude. Or maybe he's insecure. But she does wonder if possessiveness also factors into the equation, and that- well, that may need tending to ( ... )

"What the fuck's wrong with you lot? It ain't that complicated, really," Chris suddenly pipes in, because it's a tame dare, as far as dares go, and it's not like he's dared either of them to sit round in their knickers like Tony has to Jessica.

"Fuck it," he says, and with no warning, walks over, grabs Eduardo by the face and kisses him right on the mouth. He's not gay or anything, but these people need to be taught that games are games and they're all thinking way too hard about all this.

"What -" is all Eduardo manages to get out before Chris' mouth is on his, and however brief it may be, his eyes then going wide in lieu of any other response. All things considered, it's about the last reaction he would have expected, something that's more than evident even a moment later, when Chris has pulled away.

It must have accomplished its purpose, though, he thinks, or at least some purpose, bringing to light the absolute ludicrousness of the entire situation. Whatever disapproval he might have had, it isn't forgotten, but it temporarily gets set aside. All he can do is laugh, a little amused and a lot disbelieving, one hand halfheartedly covering his face. "Jesus Christ."
