could potentially be good if you have two very different tastes so you don't have a headache all year. potentially bad if you and roommate get too detailed and controlling over colors, styles, etc.
damn. i'm jealous, i don't even know who my roommate is.

that sounds pretty rational. I only know her name; we haven't talked yet.

i haven't found out who my roommate is yet but i've already starting getting stuff. somehow my room is going to be really preppy. everythings all bright colors, like hot pink and orange. its kind of cool lol. i just hope my roomie will be oka with it, but i'm going to miami a.k.a J. Crew U, so pink is a good color lol

I'm probably not going to be doing that, partly because I don't find out who my roommate is until early August, and partly because I'm just not used to doing that sort of thing. Nothing in my house is really coordinated. I think as long as it doesn't clash to the extreme, it'll be fine. That was you each still can have your own style. Unless you both want to coordinate, in which case, go for it. Either way, call her up, get a feel for her personality, and maybe casually mention it. It'll probably be easy to bring up, since you'll be talking about other items (fridge, etc.)

dont bother coordinating unless one of you has a big problem with non-matchingness

if you were MC it would be totally different :)
