Pain is necessary as a teacher and guide to our experience. And even if you abolish "pain" as it stands today, it'll simply be replaced by a "feeling less ecstatic". In my opinion a lot of conscious existence is about relative experience, so "feeling less ecstatic" will be effectively the same as the pain we have now.
