Piracetam & Excitotoxicity: Cause for Caution?

I've been using piracetam for a while, but last night I thought of something that unsettled me. For those who don't know, one of piracetam's effects is to increase the efficacy of AMPA receptors, which open in the presence of AMPA or glutamate to permit calcium ions to flow through the cell membrane. "As safe as salt"
Too much salt isn't that healthy, and I'm sure eating 2.4 grams a day is great =3

One thing the nootropics marketing is all excited about is new growth in the brain, but this may mean an increase in choline dependance. When I quit taking *racetams and choline I found that my memory and focus are awful if I don't continue supplementing choline. I now take 3 tbsp of lecithin daily for maintainence, and ocassionally galantamine or huperzine but I do not take *racetams.
