It's true, man. I've just been stalking around for a bit now. Thinking of maybe putting in an app for someone from a different canon in a bit. (Provided I can get off my lazy ass and write this app.)
But you are like the ultimate Dave. And I couldn't leave it unsaid.
Partially, I believe it's the oversimplification of a character that is generally considered to be complex. Dave is not a minor character; he is no Feferi or Nepeta, someone that you can fudge just a little and still get away with. But somehow, you have turned him into someone who is easily read and clearly not thoughtful at all. Once you said that he was basically dick jokes -- that in itself is the sign that obviously, you haven't paid attention to canon. Sure, he makes dick jokes! Yes, that's all well and good (and honestly, they can be hilarious) but there's a time and a place for things. And sometimes, Dave's reactions to situations are more than overdramatic. You've turned a stoic character into something of a drama queen.
Yeah, he has dramatic tendencies. But they're carefully concealed behind a visage of irony and cool that supersedes all else. He has problems getting rid of the mask in canon; you have problems putting it on. Another thing -- Dave's relationship with his Bro. Dave

Thanks, anon! I really appreciate the crit -- and the fact that you weren't very hostile about it either. It means a lot to me.
As for the crit -- all your points are very valid and concerns I've been having myself actually. So I'm glad you've brought them to light because then it makes me realize they're not as invisible as I thought! Thank you, once again.
The dick jokes comment was actually a joke, I didn't think it would be taken seriously. I guess it's a bad thing if an offhanded comment was taken to be seriously thought of as true for my Dave. That definitely warrants canon review.
Uhhh, I don't really know all to say here! Other than thanks and I really appreciate the crit because you're right with each of your points -- now that they're brought to light and I'm not the only one fretting then... I will definitely work on them!
Honestly, there wasn't a ton wrong with your Dave before you got that last crit. Sure, you had some moments where you were a little off, but overall you weren't doing a bad job. Everyone has those moments, nobody is perfect. However, there's a problem now. Since your hiatus and canon-review in an attempt to improve, your performance has been...sub-par, to put it a little harsher than it needs to be said. (I just can't think of a better way to put it.) Basically, your Dave just sounds empty and flat now, and it's obvious that you're not really enjoying the game anymore. I could be wrong about this, but I say it because I really don't see the flatness problem happening in your other game

Wow, anon! This didn't come off as harsh at all, I assure you. This... actually makes me feel a lot better about my Dave too. I really want to do my best to make it enjoyable for you and everyone I play with/who reads my threads and to hear that someone is actually noticing me being off my game is... a comfort really, I guess!
I'm... still not entirely sure what to do in regards to Route because it's true, my drive has kind of been here and there lately but I still find comfort in your words. Thank you for taking the time to come and tell me your thoughts! It means a lot.
So I guess the best I can do is sit down and really think of what I'm going to do about Route, and hope that my Dave can still give you a smile or two whether or not he's in Route.
I do thank you once again though for your crit! I'm glad that the flatness is not at both games either -- which gives me thoughts on what to really do for Route too

Glad I could help, and that I wasn't too big of an douchebag.
It's important to do what you think is right. If you don't have the drive to play here, then you just don't have the drive to play here. It happens sometimes. Better to realize it and do something about it than to stagnate and drag your feet.
Whatever you decide to do, just know that this anon will always get a smile from your Dave when he's at the top of his game. Like I said, keep Stridin'!
