The only trophy I ever won (except the "you played soccer, good for you") was my high school graduation English Department Award. I loved the shit out of that trophy.
Well, you get my #1 Best Nora Award, and that has some stiff competition.
seriously, though, you want to think those A-for-effort prizes are what count, but they look so silly standing next to statues that say "Best."
in my heart of hearts I know this isn't really true, but in my family it seemed that smarts and prizes were the currency that bought you the most love. especially for my grandma, who thinks of IQ points like they're diamond carats. (what did we get from her for holidays? clothes, and toys, but also brain teasers, grow-your-IQ workbooks, intelligence tests. I never, ever want to do that to my kid.)
so yey for the English award, but also: good for you for playing soccer! and for being an innately wonderful emily :).

One of my graduation presents, from my goofy mom, was a blue ribbon with a cheesy 70s cartoon turtle that says "I Like Myself."
Silly, yes, but something worth promoting. Not "I like myself because I'm good at _______." I like myself just because!
This moment brought to you by the letter W.
