So, since seeing previews for "The Changeling" I have been craving a cloche hat. I have a lovely crochet one in greys made by my lovely niecelet. I happen across one that was wool, the right dimensions and was a buy it now or best offer. I negotiated a good price with the vendor, and I got it yesterday

Rawr, very stylish! I love shot silk! I saw some gorgeous shot silk scarves in India this spring.

I wish I were are responsible as you about borrowing!

You are sooooo lucky you went to India and did not communicate with me first. You would have come back with armloads of silk. Especially Sari Fabric. YUMMY!!!

Haha! My luggage was already overstuffed with souvenirs! Although I kept the nice sandalwood stuff for myself. :)

That's some beautiful fabric.

I'm rather confused about what you're doing with the hat and the fabric, though?

If you're just adding ribbon or something to the ht, why not make more than one ribbon, so you can wear it with different outfits?

That is a great idea, but it is a little more complicated, or what I want to do is a bit more fancy.

You see, I would be pulling through a buckle and sewing it to the hat, and draping it sort of artistically. This fabric is 54" wide so I would cut a strip, and then hand sew it down to the hat, and finish it with either some rosettes or a "poof" around the buckle which is about 2 inches wide. Unfortunately it cannot be changed once I get it arranged and sewn down. I won't know what color(s) I want to use. I was inspired by Louise Green hats which are too rich for my blood, and I am confident I could make one comparable to hers, with the same sort of trimmings.
