I decided to look up some figures, before I'd even heard how much was going to be spent, becuase I already knew the yelling and complaining that was going to ensue, no matter what he dollar value ( Read more... )

BUT.
Isn't the $40 million coming out of the Taxpayer's pocket?
And aren't the monies for the tickets sold going to the Republican party?

I admit, I'm ignorant about this.

I was too! no worries...
as far as i can tell, the fundraising is used to pay for all the festivities, and the excesses would go to the Republican party.

p.s. Hope you don't mind when I comment on your lj about political matters...I know sometimes you just want to say something and not have an argument!

No, you're annoying and horrible.
You should definitely die.

But yessss, most of the time I'm just throwing information out there for people to think about and not really bothering to research them enough to have in-depth discussions about them.

While I don't really like it, at least the Left is finally learning to bend the truth for its own purposes in the same way as the Right. Just to a lesser degree for the time being.

....so if inaugurations are completely privately funded...then why does anybody care who is spending/raising more money. I say: as long as I don't have to pay for anything- and I get to watch it on tv, I'm cool with Bush and Clinton.
