You would never dream of saying "My dad used to beat I." Yet that's what it's doing in the sentence, "My dad used to beat my brother and I."
"My brother and I are being beaten" is correct because "I am being beaten" is correct; this is why we must never say "My brother and me are being beaten."
People always mess up when they use plural object pronouns. Take out the extra one and leave the "I" or "me" by itself, and you'll know if it's correct, because "my dad used to beat I" sounds so horribly wrong, as does "me is being beaten."
Prepositions ALWAYS use object pronouns. NEVER use "I" in a prepositional phrase.
I have always hoped that intelligence or worth would be based upon something a little bit more important than trivial grammar or spelling mistakes. And I definately hoped people would be less pompous than your entry suggests they are.
I am amused... particularly at the last comment, which appeared to indirectly insult you! :P Way to get a reaction, babe! Mr. Anonymous Commentor totally cracks me up.
You're right... we need to have tea sometime soon.
