» Gender: male
» Age: ~700
» Orientation:
We never see Estonia interested in either gender in his canon, at least not on a romantic or sexual level. Despite having lived for nearly 800 years (the earliest date that appears in his canon vita is the 13th century), the only people except for his people that he's ever been close to were his brothers and Finland.. He's especially attached to his younger brother Latvia, maybe because they have spent most of their life together, even becoming one nation at one point - although that is never mentioned in the manga. The nation shares his bed at least at one point with Lithuania and Latvia, but judging from what we see in his canon, that is a normal sign of closeness between friends or family. I would assume that he is asexual[, maybe also because of what he is - after all nations don't need sex to procreate, they don't even have the possibility to have other children than their people, so it might depend on the person if he wants it or not, and not be an actual need.]
» Personality:
A trait that he shares with his brothers is that he is rather reserved, shy and nervous around other nations (he doesn't shake as much as Latvia, but he still does shake some). The latter trait seems to have lessened a lot since he became independent, though. Since they came to Russia's house, he has always been the most confident Baltic brother to begin with. He has even been seen talking to others in a slightly brisk and off-putting manner (France in the Christmas strips) or standing up against his old oppressor Russia - although even then his self-confidence crumbles as soon as he is under pressure. He is quite compliant, even obedient, usually being the one of the brothers who manages to get away easiest, mostly because he manages to stay under radar and just not get into situations that mean trouble in the end. Another reason might be that he just believes that things should be solved peacefully if possible. But although he can judge situations well usually, he can still make mistakes. And as soon as his little brother is in danger, he will scream his name and often try to come and safe him - even though he is rather weak himself.
Estonia and his brothers Latvia and Lithuania used to be very close and grew even closer during the Soviet occupation; they grew apart after getting independent, though. Estonia was trying (without much success) to become recognized by the Nordic nations, and also getting closer to his old friend Finland again. The two of them seem to have known each other from a very early point in time.
Estonia is a rather quiet character, he can think about things calmly for a long time - although he can act too fast after coming to a certain conclusion, too. He is proud of what he achieved in his life, but will not push the matter. The middle Baltic nation lacks his brothers' gentleness and caring attitude. He tries and it works sometimes, but he just isn't as emphatic as them, especially Lithuania. He's still a very friendly nation, though, who gets along very well with most nations, because of and also resulting in the general wealth that he enjoys. He also does well with computers and is very intelligent, his nickname being “honor student”
» Appearance:
Estonia is of average height or a bit taller, with short, pale dirty blond hair, and he appears to be 17. His eyes are bluish green and he wears glasses. It has never been said how bad his eyes actually are, but he has worn the glasses since he was very little, so we can assume that he really needs them. If not wearing his green military uniform, he is seen in unobtrusive, simple clothes. Estonia is neither muscular nor slender. There really isn't anything striking about his whole appearance, fitting his image as “the one who always gets forgotten”.
He looks exactly like that guy that you'd let handle your bank account, look after your kids, or give your broken computer to, but who wouldn't be invited if you were having a party. Maybe just because you forgot that he was there.
SAMPLES
» "amatomnes" Entry:
[The first paragraph is extremely huge and bold, the second one not so much, the third far smaller.]
Latvia, where are you?
Has anyone seen my little brother? He is about 15 years old, with blond curly hair and most likely shakes when you encounter him... /please, if you have seen him, tell me where he is./
Also, this device. I have never before seen something like it, but it seems to be very useful. I wonder what it can do besides transmitting text.
» "amatomneslogs" Entry:
He woke up to the dim light of the morning sun, keeping his eyes closed for a little bit longer. It just felt so good to lie in a bed again, to be at /home/, in his own capital...
Estonia froze. No... no, that wasn't it. He felt good, but it was a different feeling. A different kind of high... And somehow, the place didn't feel as it should, either.
The Baltic nation opened his eyes and sat up to have a look at his room. Which definitely wasn't the old, battered room in his house that had been vacated for more than two centuries. It looked much better, admittedly, though nothing could be greater than home. And really, every house would have looked better; the passing years had taken their toll on it. But it had been great to be back, great to have won, to have thrown Russia out and be able to be in his own house again... Even if he wasn't alone since Germany stayed over night. It didn't matter much, it still was his house, and soon he would be independent again.
But now he wasn't there anymore. Not even in his place, maybe. It just didn't look like it.
Yet it wasn't Russia's house, either, it was too warm, and why would Germany have taken him to his house? ...Right? Besides, it didn't look like that, either. More southern. The blond man swung his feet over the edge of the bed to stand up and walk to the window, when something, slightly belated, came to his attention. The fact that he was stark naked.
He hastily grabbed the blanket and covered himself with it, throwing a nervous glance around. This certainly wasn't a good sign. Did, whoever had brought him here, try to humiliate him? Why? He didn't want that, not now that he had just managed to get out of Russia's house. There had to be a way...
And, much worse, what if Latvia...
The middle brother rose to his feet, the nervous trembling gone as his mind concentrated on one task: He had to find his little brother as fast as he could.
