A curiosity poll about userpics

I don't post about LJ itself very often, but something about all the Update page uproar made me wonder. One thing some people are upset about (Since it's one of the few things to functionally change in the redesign) is the location of the userpic selection dropdown, from below the entry text box to above it. Default icon most of the time, icon of me when I'm making Announcements (sometimes), and lyrics when I'm making emo posts. ;P

I don't care where it is for posts. but for comments, I like having it near my text as the userpic I choose for a comment is meaningful. I have some for when I am being serious, some for when I am expressing certain emotions, some for meta communication, some for talking about the past conveying different emotions about it, etc. There's no simple answer

My god, I feel so average and default. I never even thought about all this junk.

I mean my default icon has meaning for me. Personally. Also, it colourfully matches my lj layout. I forget that I even have others.

Besides, if I were scrolling through a long page of comments quickly, i wouldn't recognize my posts if I posted them under a different icon. That's the main reason I never use others. There's an idea for LJ - highlight or differentiate comments that *I* made - maybe then i won't have to rely on searching for my own icon.
