score

just scored a mid century modern knock off from craiglist for $5.

It's been painted black and will need a repaint, but is perfect size for my house with it's little rooms.

question is, which of the 3 living rooms should it go into?

I'm itching to rearrange the upstairs den again. But I think everyone is sick of me doing that.

if you want to rearrange, rearrange. what did you get? i commonly scour craigslist up here, but there are about 10 different "resale" shops that do the same, pick up pieces for cheap and then sell them for ridiculous amounts of money.

also, did you ever figure out the bedroom, from that post like 2 years ago?

There has been um ::cough:: comments ::cough:: about how when someone comes home the furniture is changed up.

It's a little coffee table someone has painted black with drippy spray paint. I scratched a little and found metal cuffs on the feet, although one appears damaged. (You know what I'm talking about, right?)

I've done the bedroom like 8 times. My favorite spot leaves light in Derek's eyes. So now it's in the corner, which drives me a little batty even if it looks ok. I constantly bump my elbows on the night stands in my sleep, because they're not up near my head.

?!?!?!?!!? is how I feel about the bedroom.

Of course, I'm doing all this with free or nearly free pieces of furniture, and that causes issues. We have a lot of pieces too big or a little too small for certain rooms. Oh and only 1 sofa and 3 living rooms. I'm itching to do a massive rearrange, but it'll have to wait until we get back from vacation.

I don't know why but I used to rearrange my furniture all the time. I don't do it any more, and it's probably just because the rooms in my house are so small that there really isn't another configuration that works.
But, I know the feeling of wanting to change stuff around. :)

I think anytime you move into a new place you go through this phase of finding where things worked.

I seriously hated that I couldn't see this house with furniture. The people had already moved mostly out. It make it take a while for me to figure out.

I like how you didn't add that the house that the table came from was seriously scary!!! Probably some of the nicest people though.... but the "Warning Cops live in this house" sign was quite...um.. well... disturbing. :)

When it comes to ugly paint, my mother found the perfect solution: scratch it off, then use one of those weird brushes you put on the handheld circular saw (I'm sorry, I have absolutely no idea what's wrong with my English today) and polish the thing. Let the old wood show off it's natural colours.

There's also the added bonus of the interesting texture and patterns made by the bark beetles.

It only works if you try to give the whole room that rustic feel, but it can be stunning. Especially since we also decorated the room with all those old pots and metal things we dug up from the forest. Yes, trips to my grandma's are the best.
