Abandoned House [NFB]

Sam buried his face in his hands and sobbed. Dean was gone. Because of him. His brother was gone and there was nothing he could do about it.

Memories of Dean flooded his mind. There were plenty; they were all each other ever had to rely on until they came to Milieux. For some reason, the memory of Dean stealing Christmas presents that ended up being for a girl was strong. Probably because it was yet another example of Dean doing whatever it took to make Sam happy.

Not that Sam was happy now. Or could imagine being happy again.

After an indeterminable amount of time, he thought of Meg. And their son. He should get to town, check on her. And... he would have to tell people. Tell them Dean was gone. He wasn't sure how he would even form the words.

But before that, he had to take care of Dean. He opened the door and walked to the side of the house, where he immediately began to dry heave at the sight of Dean's battered body. Once that passed, he walked out to the Impala and popped the trunk. He knew what he should do. What his dad and Bobby would expect him to do. What Dean would have done. He picked up the container of lighter fluid and stared at it. But couldn't bring himself to do it. If there was any way that he could get Dean back, Dean would need his body.

There was a small building at the edge of the swamps. Sam walked over and realized it was the family crypt of whoever had owned this home. He could work with that. He went back to the car, got out the tools he would need and set about breaking in. There were several empty slots and through sheer force of will, Sam managed to get Dean settled in one of them. He then made sure to seal the crypt as well as he could with the materials on hand.

By the time he was done, his hands were bleeding and he was crying again. How was he going to tell people what Dean had done?

He realized that Meg needed him though. So he finally managed to pull himself together enough to take the Impala and drive to the clinic.
