I haven't really let myself think about it yet. I can't, because in so many ways this has been my entire adult life. 9/11 was my first week of college. So many of my classmates signed up for ROTC thinking it was a way to pay for college and ended up deployed into an actual war zone, which yes, was always a risk but nothing anyone expected.
I don't know how to think about it.

Oh, I get that. I'm just giving myself permission to go with my gut reaction for now because every time I look out my window I get that physical reminder of it, you know? Hopefully in a few days the emotions will subside and I'll be able to look at it more rationally.
This happened the day after I turned 18, so literally my entire adult life has been post-9/11. I read a great blog post that called it not a party for a death, but a wake for a decade lost. Which is what it is, especially for those of us who couldn't make the decisions about what our country and the world did next.
I just want our troops back home.
Argh, you are an enabler! There's like, no fic to speak of and so much of their lives are shrouded in mystery. That makes it so hard to worry about writing out of character. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I COULD DO WITH A FANDOM LIKE THAT?
I'm definitely feeling too much right now, but the satisfaction/rage overrides it all every time I look out my window. I seriously need a few days to process everything.
Found it! I can't say I agree with everything he says in the rest of the piece, but since it's more a reflection-as-it-happened post than anything else, I'm cool with it. I definitely had Feelings last night, too.

I have it open in a tab! I have TV to watch tonight, but I definitely need to get through it, if only to convince myself that someone else suffers from this insanity too.
I'm still in this kind of stupor over it. I just couldn't believe it and I agree with you on the feeling. My mother kind of summed it up last night in her reaction:
"Did they shoot him?"
:silence as she tries to listen to the news: - This is pre-Obama speech, mind you.

I don't have cable anymore (new apartment) and I found out through a friend on FB and immediately scoured the internet for up to the minute news. My twitter account went nuts and I got emotional reading everybody's thoughts and comments.

The boy is going to try to hook it up for me some time in the future. But as of now, his condo has on demand that has recent episodes of shows I will be needing to watch in the next couple of weeks.
There's already fic from you??? Unfortunately I'm not into the insanity, but you know I'll kindly read and squeee. For some reason RPF is not my thing in any regard.
