damn...
well, this is a disappointment. I got voted off animanga_lims after only 2 rounds that I participated in. it was defintely not my best icon, but still, I didn't think it was that bad.
NEGATIVE:
- The image is dark and the colouring isn't too nice.
- The soft focus, dull coloring, and overly dark lines in this icon make it boring; my eyes passed right over it the first time I looked at this post. It really needs something to draw attention and bring the icon together as a whole, be it text, a bit of color, or creative composition.
- Other than the one or two layers used for coloring, I don't see much done with the image. The coloring was also too heavy.
- Too grainy and dark... and unfinished looking. The lack of text draws the eye to the dark/grainy look, which looks strange in that context.
- The lines on his face are blurry, and the grungy textures don't work well with the bright colors.
- Image appears terribly grainy and the coloring is far too dark with the black bar at the top contributing to that.
- Coloring seems dull and washed out
- There is too much empty space that makes the icon look incomplete.
- love the idea but its too simple; text or textures might of helped.
- Image has been darkened to the extent that it looks too dull.
- A better crop, a more interesting colour treatment (see your Hijikata neighbor icon ;j), a bit of spice would have worked here best. As it is, I find no reason for this kind of icon to stay in the competition.

- Dark and dreary... and the thick black shadow on the top just always makes me dislike an icon. The image feels too colourful to be darkened the way you did...I can imagine it being darkened successfully if you brightened the skin tones or put some slight colour overlay or SOMETHING, but...

- The icon is so dark and moody, yet it fits Okita. But! It pales in comparison to all the other icons. There's nothing very special about it and in fact, the dark and moodiness of the icon detracts from it's visual appeal.
