So after a traumatic experience in Asgard caused by [insert event and/or myth] when he was a young teen, Loki ran away and landed on Midgard. But he was scarred/unhappy enough to put himself to sleep in some remote area of the planet.
The Thor and Avengers movies?
A very real dreamworld of Loki's based on his memories of Asgard; a side-effect of his magic sinking into his surroundings to protect him- which eventually sent images and news of the world to Loki via magically osmosis; and the fact that deep in his mind, he knew that things weren't right and the knowledge just...revealed itself after some digging. A lot of digging.
Loki eventually realises that it's all in his head but he's not sure how to get out, or if he even wants to get out. When he does wake up, I want to see Loki's ( ... )

Tony doesn’t expect Loki to be anywhere in his house, especially not his bedroom and definitely not helping himself to a scotch.
“I see you came back for that drink,” is the autopilot remark, thank you brain, because Loki just threw the drink back, all smooth, long throat and Tony can see the bob of it going down.
“I did neglect to accept your offer of hospitality, as it were, Tony Stark.”
Loki sets the glass casually on the bar, as if showing up in the very heart of Tony’s highly guarded home is a normal event. Tony is almost certain there is a hidden insult there, especially since the word ‘heart’ popped automatically into his mind. He feels the unpleasant sensation of being made fun of under the carefully neutral set of Loki’s expression.
“I hope you didn’t ‘accept’ too much; you know what they say about alcohol loosening your tongue? Well, perhaps you needed it after the whole, you know,” and Tony makes gestures indicating a gag ( ... )
